GRADUATION TOPIC
Growing up in Luxembourg and having parents from the UK and British guyana, I have never felt connected to the luxembourgish culture. Growing up outside of my mothers country (BRITISH) and having a father (GUYANESE) that was away, meant that my sibling and I did not experience any of their country and felt a disconnect to those sides of the family.

Throughout term 4.1 I spent a lot of time asking for family images, researching my family history and listening to stories from my parents, in order to bridge this disconnect. I also considered doing a DNA test to find out more about myself. However, I reached a point where I was unsure if I was even learning anything about myself as I was reliant on stories told by others, dealing with broken family bonds and archives that have been set up by colonialists. I found myself in a space between fact and fiction.
PREVIOUS TERM
This relationship between fact or fiction, memory or happening, is what interests me now. I do not want to disregard the history of my family, however I want to explore the memories we attach to family images and happenings. I would like to collect stories from different family members in relation to the same image for example, and see where details differ and fact become fiction.
